Q Why does my monitor keep going blank?

A Some models ship with a built-in hardware screen saver. The default setting is for the screen saver is 5 seconds. Use the on-screen display to set the screen saver to 0 seconds (off).

Q Why can't I access some of the computers on my system?

A The default setting for all ports on the multiplatform models is PC-PS/2. If you have a Mac or Sun that is attached to the system, you need to tell the ServeView what kind of computer is there. Use the Mode commands detailed in the manual.

Q My Sun computer is not recognizing my keyboard on bootup when it is connected to the ServeView Multiplatform. What do I do?

A Make sure your ServeView is properly connected. Double-check your cable connections. Try switching ports with your keyboard commands (found in your manual). If the keyboard is working, execute the following keyboard sequence for each sun port(releasing each key before pressing the next): "m" "5" (without the quotes). Follow up with "k" to save the settings.

Q The keyboard commands are not working, what now?

A Be sure that you are pressing and releasing each key in sequence and not simultaneously. Be sure that you are not pausing more than 2 seconds between each keypress. Be sure that you are not using the numpad for numerical input.

Q What is this extra cable I found in the box? It has a telephone looking connector on one side and a serial connection on the other.

A That is a firmware upgrade cable. You can use it to keep your ServeView updated with the latest updates which are posted regularly to our website.

Q Will the ServeView save my custom settings when I remove the power supply?

A Yes. Be sure to use the Keep command (, "k"). This will save all your settings into non-volitile memory which will allow you to completely disconnect your ServeView from all power sources, yet maintain your settings.
